Heidi Wentworth-Ping is a Melbourne/Naarm-based photographer, visual artist and educator working across documentary, commercial and fine-art photography.

With roots in documentary practice, she spent a number of years on longer-term projects across Nepal, India, Africa, the Himalayas and the Tibetan diaspora, exploring ideas of identity and place, the human relationship with and between natural and built environments, and how that shapes our sense of home and belonging.

With a decade of professional experience across the UK, Europe and Australia, Heidi has worked with high-profile commercial clients including Marks & Spencer, Coles, NBN and NRL, and with international humanitarian organisations such as UNHCR and the Australian Red Cross. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including at Photo London (Somerset House), Davis Orton Gallery (Hudson, New York), and the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, Massachusetts). Her teaching draws directly on this cross-genre professional practice.

Alongside her teaching and freelance practice, she is developing long-form personal work rooted in a sustained contemplative practice, exploring consciousness, attention, and the question of how to photograph the unphotographable. Across all of it, her enduring subjects are people and place: the encounter, the sense of belonging, community and identity.
