about
Heidi Wentworth-Ping is a photographer and visual effects artist based in Melbourne/Naarm. As a lover of both the natural world and the boundless possibilities of technology, her work spans the full gamut from raw photojournalism through to fully digitally composed images - as well as exploring the intersection between the two. With a decade's exeperience working commercially in the UK, Europe and Australia and as a photojournalist in remote regions of the world. She is equally at ease in a remote corner of Nepal, on a film set in London or in the edit suite in Melbourne.
Her documentary work delves into themes of identity, belonging, and our intricate relationships with the environment—both natural and human-made. Capturing the personal and collective narratives that shape our sense of home, examining how physical spaces, communities and the natural world influence our sense of self. Through these narratives she explores the complex intersections of culture, place, and the ways in which we are bound to one another in an ever-changing world. In turn she aims to invite audiences to reflect on their own connections to the places they inhabit and the people who shape their lives, highlighting the profound impact of our surroundings on our identities.
